How much water does a bidet use?

A typical bidet uses about half a litre of water per use, whilst a typical full flush toilet uses 11 litres per flush and a dual flush toilet uses 4.5 litres.

Are bidets legal in Australia?

Bidets are legal in Australia. However, all bidets must be certified to meet Australian standards. OTR (Office of the Technical Regulator) states that “all bidets must be installed in conjunction with a toilet seat and flexible hoses installed adjacent to the toilet are required to have RPZs fitted.” A little unsure as to what that means? Well, an RPZ (reduced pressure zone) is a device which prevents backflow and water contamination. It must be installed before the water is connected, and so a licensed plumber should be the one to do so.

Are bidets sanitary?

Bidets are very hygienic for both men and women and perfect for sensitive skin, too. There is a common misconception that bidet water requires soap to provide a hygienic clean. However, cleaning with soap regularly can cause more harm than good. Increased use of soap in certain areas can result in the drying out of the skin and in severe cases skin infection – not nice. A lot of people claim that using a bidet feels like you’re cleaning yourself better because you are not using abrasive toilet paper. In addition to their sanitary benefits, bidets are also environmentally friendly.
