Gas Commissioning
The gas fitters (and plumbers with gas fitting endorsement) at Metropolitan Plumbing provide essential commissioning services for any installations. But commissioning is not just for new installations; it’s also mandatory for the following:
- Gas appliance replacements and relocations.
- Conversions between natural gas and LPG appliances.
- Reconnecting the supply after a previous disconnection or capping off.
- Any gas work that involves alterations to pipework, regulators, injectors and other key parts.
You’ll also need recommissioning following any gas services that involve touching any combustion settings, gas train components, ventilation or the flue.
For any gas fitting services you need, including commissioning and recommissioning, make the gas fitters at Metropolitan Plumbing your first port of call.
What Does Commissioning Involve?
Commissioning or recommissioning ensures your appliance complies fully with Australian Standard AS/NZS 5601.1 (Gas Installations). It also guarantees the appliance and main gas line are safe and capable of performing at their best.
The process involves leak and tightness tests, inlet and burner-pressure checks, combustion and CO testing, ventilation and negative-pressure checks, and verification of safety controls before we hand access to the appliance (figuratively) back to you.
All of our gas plumbers will commission every gas appliance they install and issue a Certificate of Compliance (or the equivalent in your city). That way, you can rest easy knowing your new appliance works perfectly and is safe to use.
