Recently one of our plumbers was called to a blocked toilet job in Perth. The customer rang to advise that their toilet was blocked after searching for a plumber in Perth. They wanted a plumber within the hour and we could certainly provide one.

Our plumber arrived at Trevor’s house 45 minutes later to clear his blocked toilet. Upon arrival, our plumber realised that the only access point for the toilet drain was under the pan. Therefore, the pan had to be removed for our plumber to inspect.

Every home is different and each access point is located in a different place. In this instance, the toilet pan was removed and a drain camera was inserted to inspect. Drain cameras show a video of the internal pipe and identify where and if there are any breakages in the system. This is helpful to assess the degree of damage to a drain and if a repair is required.

Unfortunately for Trevor, the results weren’t great. It was discovered that a toilet freshener had been flushed and become trapped in the S trap of the toilet. Surprisingly, this is an all too common occurrence for our plumbers.

There are some items that a plunger just can’t fix and this was certainly one of them. The CCTV drain camera also unveiled that a tree root had infiltrated the drain. Tree roots are a very common cause of blocked toilets as they get into the drain in search of water. Any crack or breakage in the pipe gives an entry point for roots to enter.

Using the electric drain cleaning machine we were able to cut off the roots and then reseal the pipe. Our plumber also removed the toilet fresher from the S trap and restored Trevor’s toilet to its working state.
